CityRent Trust & Safety

Rent with confidence, not pressure.

CityRent helps people discover rentals and communicate clearly. We provide practical safeguards and guidance, but every member must still verify the listing, the person, and the agreement before money or sensitive information changes hands.

✓

Our safety position

CityRent is a marketplace—not a landlord, tenant, broker, property manager, insurer, payment processor, escrow service, or party to a private rental agreement. A profile, email confirmation, trust signal, promotion badge, or time on the platform is not a guarantee of identity, ownership, condition, availability, affordability, or safety.

Use CityRent to compare details and begin a conversation. Make the final decision only after independent verification and a clear written agreement.

◈

Before sending money

Never pay a deposit, fee, or first month’s rent before verifying the address, advertiser, terms, and payment recipient. Treat gift cards, cryptocurrency, wire transfers, cash-only pressure, and urgent discounts as warning signs.

⌂

Before a viewing or pickup

Search the address independently, meet in a safe public or well-known setting, tell someone where you are going, and inspect the property or item before committing.

▣

Protect your identity

CityRent will not need your password, banking password, SIN, or unnecessary identity documents. Share only what is needed for a legitimate rental process.

⚒

For tools and equipment

Confirm the condition, accessories, deposit, return time, damage expectations, and safe operating instructions. Do not use equipment you have not been shown how to operate.

✉

Keep early conversations here

Use CityRent messages while you verify the details. Be cautious when someone immediately moves you elsewhere or asks you to bypass the normal process.

⚠

When something feels wrong

Stop, do not send money, preserve the listing and message details, and report the concern to info@cityrent.ca. If there is an immediate threat, contact local emergency services.
